Archadia was founded in 1993 and has since developed its expertise in the fields of social and private housing, health, educational, commercial and public buildings. A strong theme of Archadia’s work has been residential accommodation for groups with special needs and a sympathy for the wide ranging requirements of these individuals and the organisations which house them. Work includes extra care schemes for older people, wheelchair housing, housing for people with learning disabilities and specialist educational work. While some knowledge of these fields would be advantageous for a candidate, experience in other types of UK architectural work might also be an asset, particularly if this includes an area Archadia can develop into in the future.

The success of the practice relies upon its close-knit team whose frequent discussions during the design process allow projects to develop in accordance with the client’s needs and the visual context of the site. Our personal and professional service combined with a focused design philosophy allows us to create beautiful spaces which people can enjoy.

Space planning expertise is called upon to adapt, improve, and extend existing housing stock and new buildings are designed with a fresh style while remaining domestic in appearance. As a socially and environmentally aware practice, care is taken in design to give due regard to energy efficiency and the use of renewable materials.

We organise regular events for staff such as visits to recently completed Archadia projects or to other buildings of note. In June we held a reception to celebrate our 15th anniversary and in September we will visit the Green House at the BRE Innovation Park. We work to very high standards and our friendly office culture retains a good balance for staff.
