Director of Estates
University of the Arts London is seeking a new Director of Estates to lead the Estates team through an exciting and challenging period in the University’s ambitious plans.
The vision for the Estates Strategy is to provide an environment that is in harmony with the creative nature of the Institute. The next ten years will see very significant capital spending on redevelopment to create new inspiring and iconic venues that will reinforce the University’s position at the forefront of the creative community. The new Director of Estates will be at the heart of this challenging phase, leading the redevelopment plans and improving building facilities operations, driving improvements in consumer experience and fostering creativity and innovation in a safe, sustainable environment.
To lead on Estates Strategy, Policy and Project Delivery, aligning the Estates strategy to the business strategy and ensuring that day to day UAL estates and facilities services are provided in a robust, reliable manner and perform to established Service Level Agreements. The post holder will provide leadership and guidance to the Estates Department in delivery ofits day to day activities including:
- Real Estate
- Capital Projects
- Business Support
- Environmental and Energy initiatives
A key part of the role will be the development and implementation of the University’s real estate strategy through site disposal, acquisition, rationalisation and delivery of planning certainty. In addition the Director will provide project leadership and financial control of the planned major capital projects and an annual operations budget in excess of £20m.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will possess extensive property projects experience, with a track record of successfully delivering design rich major capital projects in excess of £20m+ across a diverse estate. She/he will combine "Director of" level leadership experience gained in a large, complex organisation with a very practical hands on style of management and an eye for detail in operational delivery. A strong collaborator she/he will be adept at delivering creative estates solutions within vibrant and dynamic environments. In addition to being degree educated with corporate membership of a relevant body (RIBA, RICS, CIOB etc.) She/he will be able to demonstrate continued professional development and excellence in best practice.
