Architectural Services Manager
Luton Borough Council has an exciting opportunity for an Architectural Services Manager to join their established team in Luton. The town is situated within the historic county of Bedfordshire, but since 1997 Luton has been an administratively independent unitary authority.
This post is a permanent position to provide our design team with additional resources to support our commitments to design and delivery of major projects which include mater-planning, housing, commercial, new build and refurbishment of schools, office refurbishments which range in value from 1M to 27M.
Provide leadership to a strong and experienced design team of architects which consists of project architects, technicians and architectural assistants’ part 1 & 2. Projects will consist of new build and refurbishment projects ranging from small extensions to complete building developments, including urban design advice within the borough and ensure that design, financial and timescale criteria are met. Managing budgets (with QS support) and revenue will be a key responsibility as well as advising and steering the design team to identify and pursue work opportunities.
Undertake projects from inception to completion and act a liaison link between the various professionals on projects, deal with related problems and ensure that project objectives are achieved. You will be the lead and guide to the team as well as developing new business for the Council organisation. A robust background and experience level within architecture and management is necessary and the ability to lead and oversee multiple large volume projects would be required.
Must have a relevant professional qualification and membership of an appropriate institute e.g. RIBA, ARB or equivalent verifiable work based experience and training. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of procurement, JCT Contracts (Traditional and D&B), Health and Safety Legislations (CDM, DDA etc). Good understanding of Revit and BIM related work is important as you will need to use such technology and systems to coordinate the team and projects.
You should be proficient in using Revit, AutoCAD and design software to be involved with producing detailed drawings and the ability to have good understanding of project progression and ability to talk through schedules and progress delivering to clients and senior Directors.
