Building Control Officer required for local authority in Lancashire on a permanent basis.

Your new company
You will be working in the Property and Planning Team of a busy local authority, based in a landmark building on Morecambe seafront, just a short drive or very short train journey from the historic city centre of Lancaster and within a 30 minute drive of the Lake District National Park. Lancaster train station is on the West Coast Main Line, with frequent direct services to Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London. Accessibility will be enhanced even further when a direct access from Morecambe to the M6 Motorway opens later this year. The employer is in need of a Building Control Officer who can assist the authority and deliver a first class service.

Your new role
You will be responsible for the assessment and where necessary the negotiation of all Building Control work, including full Plans and Building Notice applications to ensure that all works undertaken are compliant with the Building Regulations and other relevant legislation. You will deal with reports of dangerous buildings, and will use your professional judgement to undertake enforcement investigations in relation to developments that are in contravention of the Building Regulations, and pursue action if required.

What you'll need to succeed
You will need to have worked as a Building Control Officer in a professional capacity and be able to provide examples of how you have dealt with various job related scenarios at interview. As the role is not at trainee level, you will be expected to get stuck straight into the case work as soon as you commence in the role, and so candidates must be confident that they will be able to deliver on this.

What you'll get in return
You will receive a secure role with a highly respected local employer who offers a generous benefits package, including flexible working hours, within a supportive team environment in an enviable location.
