Planning Officer required by Local Authority in Lancashire to deal with site delivery work in the area.
Your new company
You will be working in the Planning Office of a busy local authority, based in a landmark building on Morecambe seafront, just a short drive or very short train journey from the historic city centre of Lancaster and within a 30 minute drive of the Lake District National Park. Lancaster train station is on the West Coast Main Line, with frequent direct services to Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London. Accessibility will be enhanced even further when a direct access from Morecambe to the M6 Motorway opens later this year. The employer is in need of a Planning Officer who can assist the authority with the delivery of planning work on medium and major development proposals in the area.
Your new role
Working within a busy planning team in Lancashire you will be responsible for facilitating the delivery of major developments in the area, largely residential/housebuilding projects. You will provide an effective pre-application service for major and strategic development proposals, and will be involved in the negotiation of schemes where necessary, and you will be expected to maintain excellent contacts with applicants and agents, and other stakeholders, with particular regard to overseeing the delivery and implementation of approved planning applications.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need to be a Chartered Town Planner (RTPI) or be at an advanced level of working towards this goal. You should have an excellent knowledge of the planning process and a good understanding of planning legislation/policy/guidance and awareness of emerging planning issues. You will need to have good communication skills and be able to produce relevant planning reports to a high standard.
