Architect - Director
Your new company
A well-known and highly regarded architectural practice working across the UK, comprising five offices and a growing presence in London, is looking to expand its position and expertise with the appoint of a new director to lead the London business. The company has over one hundred staff with twelve in the London team. The role will be joining them at management level, working with the board, inheriting their strong pipeline, and also contributing to the office's future strategy and growth. The practice has a varied portfolio with well-designed and realised projects across residential, commercial and public schemes, some well-known of very large scale. Combining design flair, delivery and commercial acumen; their team has energy and creativity, with the backdrop of a strong and positive business set-up.
Your new role
You will be an experienced and ambitious architect, with a design and delivery track record of large-scale buildings. Ideal experience would be city-based high-value developer-led residential and commercial schemes. Through your leadership and vision, you will bring ideas and energy, to win and deliver successfully high-calibre projects. Beyond the London growth, the company also has a vision to expand in to Europe. The London studio will be crucial to this business plan and your role in the medium-term will also involve being a part of the management team that will further international growth. You may currently be working at associate level, and this role would be the natural step up, putting in to play your ability to lead people, your design skills, your ambitions of achieving director; and in time reaching the highest levels in becoming an equity partner.
What you'll need to succeed
They are seeking a talented architect with an impressive portfolio of realised buildings. First and foremost, you will have the ability or demonstrative potential to lead a team - with any necessary support - and managing the office in it's entirely. You will be confident in working a client relationship, and although the practice has some high-valued clients and pipeline; as an established London-based Architect you will have contacts that will help you contribute to the practices project pipeline. As the London Director, you will oversee a team that's covering all of the following duties, but as the senior figure, you will need to have hands-on ability in managing and coordinating the design team's information; leading and managing the production team; managing information output to programme and to quality standards; managing the administration of the project, programme and reporting; deliver through to site stage.

The level of support or autonomy can also be tailored specifically for the successful individual; however the managing director along with the senior board are committed to enabling you to take ownership of the London studio, and from there all enjoy a long and prosperous appointment.
