Architect - Kent/South East London

Ambitious Architect required.

My client are a small but rapidly growing home extension, conversion and improvement design practice with 3 offices based in Kent. They are well on their way to becoming one of the largest specialist home designers in the South East. Currently they are undertaking around two new projects per week ranging from £35k single storey extensions and loft conversions to £500k double storey luxury extensions.

We have an aggressive strategy for further growth; first across London and the South East then Nationwide and need to build their teams to facilitate this growth.

They are looking for a particularly special kind of person to come on board with them at this early exponential growth stage. This person needs to have the aspiration and desire to go the extra mile where they can mold a role around their skill sets.

Customer focus and great service are key attributes that are absolutely fundamental to the role. You will have considerable customer contact therefore ability to get on and strike a great working relationship and rapport is critical. Much of our current success is down to the likability and trust factor. You must possess these abilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Undertaking the design function for residential conversions, extensions and refurbishment schemes
  • Meeting clients and undertaking a full measured CAD survey
  • Present designs demonstrating the merits and how it will impact clients lives
  • Quality check design functions carried out by others including other Designers and Structural Engineers
  • Chasing service providers to ensure they are delivering a quality product
  • Managing projects ensuring all tasks carried out by you or the designers, engineers, builders etc. are completed by the agreed time and standard
  • Continually liaise and meet with clients to ensure they are happy and go through the designs with them regularly
  • Liaise with various authorities for approvals and generally be proactive in managing the processes to achieve an excellent service standard

Key Skills

  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Minimum 2 years working experience of UK Building Regulations and Planning Regulations
  • Technical/construction drawing ability is more important than high end visual design
  • Preferably you will be RIBA Part 2 or Part 3 qualified.
  • Preferably you will be RIBA Part 2 or Part 3 qualified.
  • Full UK driving license required with your own transport
