Client Details

Our client, an established house builder based close to St. Albans, has been building new homes for more than 55 years, using the passion of their employees to build stunning, vibrant and sustainable communities.

After going through a strong growth period increasing the total number of units built per year by over 5% (150 units) they are now in need of an experienced Technical Manager to join their expanding team. With projects involving a mix of building styles including RC and Traditional frame they are offering further growth and development for the right individual.

Situated in St. Albans our client occupies a modern office with access to lots of amenities close to the town centre.


The role of Technical Manager - UK Housebuilder - will be reporting into the Technical Director, who has been responsible for setting up the Technical department for this region. You will be supporting the business in all technical matters.

Working alongside a small team of 4 Technical Managers you will be responsible for between 3-4 sites, coordinating consultants both internal and external, making sure projects are delivered on time.

This role will involve a variety of projects, working on both traditional and RC frame projects, pure residential and mixed use projects.

Generally in your role you will be responsible for:

Checking design packages

Produce, monitor and drive the Technical Co-ordinator team to achieve key dates

Provide full administrative support to regional site based operations for working drawings, ancillary details and technical information for one or more sites

Supporting technical team and Director with any technical information required

The role will offer an excellent opportunity to grow and develop internally to Senior Technical Manager.

In this role you will also have an excellent level of exposure to senior management, interacting face to face with them on a regular basis and presenting technical information when needed.


The selected Technical Manager - UK Housebuilder - for this role will ideally already be working for a residential developer and have a strong understanding of technical requirements and up to date regulations.

You should be coming from either an engineering or architectural background. Your technical knowledge should be excellent and you should be able to confidently lead presentations to project committees and senior management.

Our client is looking to build a team comprised of star performers and you should be able to work well independently as well as collaboratively with the team.

Experience wise, you do not need to have specific RC frame or Traditional build knowledge. You must have the desire and attitude required to learn and develop.
