Design Lead (Cancer Environments)

Are you an experienced Architect or qualified building design professional looking for a new direction and challenge? Do you want the opportunity to have a client side focussed role that makes a real difference for people affected by cancer?

Macmillan’s Cancer Environments Team (CE) is a multi-disciplinary team focussed on improving the outcomes and experience of people affected by Cancer through the development of transformational physical environments providing treatment and support.

Based in Redditch (West Midlands) with a national remit, you will be responsible for leading the development and production of new and innovative approaches to concept designs using evidence based methodology, liaising with, and managing a community of practice for all our external consultants (e.g. Architects and Cost Consultants) to promote and develop Macmillan’s design guideline.

You will be involved in the development and production of design briefs for capital projects, ensuring that the views of partner organisations and users are fully reflected and embedded within the project, and that the design objectives of any environments project are clearly defined with service colleagues and partner organisations from project inception through the project cycle.

You must be able to demonstrate a background in design particularly in the Health and Social Care Sector along with the ability to manage relationships sensitively to inspire and influence a range of stakeholders and instil Macmillan’s ethos and philosophy at the most senior level.

In return you will be contributing to a strong legacy that benefits people affected by cancer as well as an excellent package of benefits including car or car allowance, access to private health care, life assurance, pension, childcare vouchers, generous annual leave and interest free loans for season ticket and gym membership.
