The Fairhursts Design Group (FDG) is looking to open a new office in Cambridge, this is to support its current and future work load with the University of Cambridge and Wellcome Genome Campus as well as develop new work within Cambridge, north London and surrounding counties. 


The Associate Director role is a Board level position and offers an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to build a new and thriving regional office for FDG. With the support of a 100+ years of Architectural practice and a fast track promotion to Board Director level dependent on performance and bringing in new paid commissions. As Associate Director, you will be responsible for a range of business functions to help accelerate the growth and ambition of FDG.


This will include being primarily responsible for: building and maintaining relationships locally to secure new commissions, architectural design and delivery, and BID production. In tandem, you will manage and lead the Cambridge team, and provide executive support to the technical teams undertaking projects. Being a board level position you will be required to attend board and management meetings in the FDG Manchester Head Office, as well as reporting to the main board bi-weekly regarding new projects, resource, and HR pertinent issues. 


As Associate Director, it is essential that you are currently working in a senior role, ideally with five year’s experience at this level, with an established network of contacts, and be local to the area. This will be reinforced by your successful track record of delivering high quality projects, ideally within the scientific, research, and industrial sectors. You will be able to convey your organisational skills by an aptitude for programming work to deadlines, as well as being able to effectively manage office workload and prioritisation. 


As an architect you will be registered with the ARB, and have a minimum of 15 years’ practical experience. Working knowledge of BIM and Contracts are required, whilst proficiency in Revit is also desirable. As Associate Director and Architect, you will have the opportunity to work on major UK projects, all whilst developing your own team. You will be a key figure in the future of Fairhursts Design Group, with a clear pathway to Director.
