Senior Architectural Designer
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Senior Architectural Designer to join a multi-disciplinary contractor design company based in Cambridge. This well renowned company provide architectural, structural and civil engineering design assistance to one of the largest privately-owned construction companies in the country. They work closely with their construction companies to provide clients with a fully integrated design and build service.
Due to growth and expansion, we are seeking a Senior Architectural Designer with good construction knowledge and eye for detail to undertake the design and coordination of major projects from initial inception to completion. You will supervise production of drawings, schedules and other information produced by the Architectural and Structural Engineering Team.
*Production of feasibility, planning and working drawings.
*Translate standard/proprietary manufacturer's details onto working drawings.
*Produce and check Designers Health and Safety Risk
*Ensure the dimensional accuracy and compliance with all relative project drawings.
*When necessary, visit site and carry out level/measured survey to ensure dimensional compatibility between existing and proposed structures.
*Undertake project co-ordination and contractors programme.
*To produce reports and specifications ensuring the compliance with National/International Standards, Statutory requirements and the project brief.
*If Architecturally lead, coordinate regular internal project design team reviews/meetings as identified within the Project Management Plan.
*Determine technical content of drawings.
*Decide the format and scope of design data required for project.
*In conjunction with the contractor's staff, establish the most efficient and economic method of construction/use of materials within the technical requirements/constraints.
*On every project, work closely with other internal and external team members including Engineers/Surveyors to ensure that the design is compliant with both specification and project cost constraints.
*Monitor/review project fee structure and determine associated variation costs.
*Preparation and issue of design reports for submission to the contractor, reporting in connection with the Project Management Plan.
*Check drawings, schedules and specifications for compliance.
*Supervision of Trainees, Technicians and Architectural Designer as directed by Management.
*Project Management of the design either for the contractor or on behalf of Company.
*Establish the project fee structure for individual projects for management team review and approval.
·Minimum of ten years relevant experience.
·Qualified to HNC or Degree level.
·Member of a recognised Architectural body (not mandatory)
·Sound working knowledge of CAD and BIM software is essential
·Good working knowledge of Building Regulations and Planning Legislation/Procedure as well as general Building Detailing.
A highly competitive salary and benefits package be on offer to the successful applicant, likely to be in the range of £35,000 - £45,000 per annum dependant on experience.
