Become a Partner in a Practice Growing at 20% YOY
"I have a Director title but no real say in the strategic direction of the practice".
"The top table is full and that won't change for the foreseeable future".
"The practice I work for revolves around founding Partners".
As a senior appointments recruiter, I often hear these very legitimate frustrations. It's common for people who have progressed rapidly to the upper levels in an architectural practice to then find a few more hurdles preventing them from achieving their full potential.
The practice I am hiring for has the most organised and fair equity system that I have ever come across in all my 18 years of recruitment; and it pays very well too. Equity can be on offer from as early as 12months into your employment. The practice is transparent in the way it operates and as such, it's a meritocracy where good performance and team work equals rewards. For those who have what it takes, there are absolutely no hurdles to slow your progression and great framework to work within.
They have a great leadership team in place. I have met them all and seen their success both in design terms and commercial terms. There are lots of fantastic architects and designers, established support functions across finance, research and marketing, and the practice has a very good reputation for design quality across a whole load of building typologies. The London office has an upbeat atmosphere and they are performing well. In short, they don't need anything fixing.
The point of hiring an additional person to join the leadership team is to continue the evolution and growth of the practice and to broaden its client base and portfolio. As a practice, they like to always be on the front-foot. Strengthening and diversifying their team is a big part of that. We are therefore looking for an entrepreneurial architect who wishes to play significant part in the continued evolution and growth of the practice. Someone who'd like to become an Equity Partner and have some control over both their own future and that of the practice.
As a member of the strategic leadership, you will receive all of the support you need to make your role and the practice a success. There'd be no geographical boundaries to your patch either. The company firmly believes that it is all about pitching the best global team for each client and project. You would lead design, engage in office wide and global strategies, win work and attract, nuture and retain the best deisgn talent in the industry.
Top quality new build architecture for UK and Europe projects is what we are after. In an ideal world we'd like some of those projects to have been built in London but this should't be seen as a pre-requisite. We'd like you to be operating at Director or Partner level and have a very good strategic head on your shoulders. Typologies could be anything from office to HE, residential, mixed use, hospitality or transport. In essence, we are open to sector. As this is a fairly large practice, the projects tend to be fairly large too so you'll need to have some big projects under your belt.
The people we would like to speak to will be very good at their job and have no particulalr need to leave their current employers. The package will be six figures.
The job advert is comning to an end now so ask yourself,
"Should I pick up the phone and at least have a chat with Stephen Glands about this Partnership opportunity"?
It might not go anywhere in which case you can stay happy and comfortable in your current practice. Which is fine of course! Or it might turn out to be one of the most worthwhile calls you ever made.
We take confidentiality very seriously so there is no risk of rocking the boat.
Here's my phone number: 02073185891. I look forward to speaking to you.
