Assistant Workspace Designer

Contract Type: Concurrent

Type of Post: 12 months fixed term contract with the possibility of extension of permanency   

The Role

Do you have experience of working on workplace design projects involving office fit outs or new or historic buildings, plus a real desire to make the most of your skills in a unique and historic environment? Then make the move to the House of Commons Property, Planning & Design team.

The team you’ll be joining provides workspace related design and support services to the House of Commons and the House of Lords to ensure the Estate is a welcoming and accessible working environment for all. They are part of the Strategic Estates department which manages property and engineering infrastructures across the Parliamentary Estate, who range from the historic Palace of Westminster to the modern Portcullis House. Fair to say then, the work you’ll get involved in will be interesting and varied.

As an Assistant Workspace Designer, you’ll help the wider teams develop and provide workspace design and planning services to meet the varied requirements of both Houses. Space planning and interior design will be a regular feature of the role, as will providing moves management support and helping the team with building analysis studies. Maintaining and updating master CAD drawings and our CAD block library will be important too

Proven relevant experience is essential, as is an architectural or interior design qualification to degree level. We’ll also be looking for great AutoCAD skills, proficiency in desktop publishing packages like Photoshop, In-Design, Sketch-up etc. A great team player, you have good communication skills, can critique own work and actively seek feedback from others.
