Furniture CAD Designer

I am currently seeking a capable and enthusiastic Furniture Designer to join an amazing team specialising in the design & manufacture of bespoke furniture for the hotel and hospitality market. Experience in a similar role would be considered a strong advantage although graduates will be considered providing they are able to demonstrate sufficient ability. Working within the Design department the right candidate will be able to produce comprehensive technical CAD drawings, to include 2D plans and elevations with all appropriate and instructive design narrative and consideration to scale, functionality, materials and components.
The role requires attention to detail and effective concept development, you will be expected to execute and manage the design, development & installation process. You will be commercial, professional and client facing, able to assess a client's requirements, consult with colleagues, liaise professionally with the client, and consider the core materials and components required to ensure your design is functional whilst addressing the brief effectively with great consideration to cost and client budget constraints.
Excellent organisational and time management skills are a must. You will be able to create 3D visuals to translate your designs into a format that you can present to the wider team, sub-contractors, the installation team as well as presenting to the client for approval.

Responsibilities include:
- Professional and confident client liaison to interpret and define client requirements.
- Attend site to carry out thorough site surveys and obtain accurate measurements.
- Manage elements of the design process from concept & development to installation.
- Research, consider and specify appropriate materials, components and products.
- Produce excellent 2D & Isometric CAD drawings and 3D visuals.
- Compile design proposals to adequately consider and demonstrate ideas, finishes, features and elements that address both the clients brief and budget.
- Assemble all associated costs in accordance with an assigned budget.
- Provide technical design support between client and production throughout the project.
- Source, procure & co-ordinate the supply & installation of elements relevant to a project.
- Collaborate and liaise with colleagues in the production department.
- Research and keep ahead of industry changes to promote best practice. Requirements:
- BA degree qualification in Product / Furniture Design is essential.
- Demonstrate excellent technical CAD drawing ability, accuracy and attention to detail. - Commercial Design experience and an understanding of manufacturing methods for the construction of furniture is a strong advantage.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficient use of AutoCAD, Sketch-Up and Photoshop and a good knowledge of Microsoft Office [Outlook, Word, Excel and MS Project]
- Good client facing communication and confident presentation skills.
- Excellent time management skills and a flexible approach to working hours where a project or deadline dictates.
- A portfolio of previous work that demonstrates creativity and attention to detail.
- Must hold a full clean driving licence and able to travel to meet clients and attend site.
