My client, a market leading house builder, is looking to recruit a Design manager

The main purpose of the role is to produce sketch layouts for bids based on the standard house type portfolio, ensuring the most efficient layout is designed to maximize profitability and success of bids for the future security of the Region's land pipeline.
To understand, implement and adhere to policy and strategy.
Ensure health and safety and customer experience are at the heart of everything you do.

Key accountabilities include:

Design - Land Appraisal
- To work with the Land Department on the brief for each bid required.
- Attend a Technical Team site visit before any design work is undertaken.
- Confirm suitability of sales mix with sales team prior to design commencing.
- Produce the sketch layout to suit the required timescales.
- Engage with Land and Commercial teams to assist development of the internal Cost Plan.
- Work with engineering colleagues to co-ordinate an engineering feasibility design where required based on the sketch layout produced.
- Co-ordinate with services colleagues to allow suitable provision for new services infrastructure where known.
- Keep abreast of legislation and design guidance to ensure sketch layouts are compliant in term of road geometries, parking provision, separating distances etc.
- Have a working knowledge of engineering related matters that influence a design, such as surface water storage, pump stations, visibility, cut and fill etc.

Planning Stage
- Engage with the technical team and external consultants to prepare a planning application package based on the sketch layout following a successful bid.
- Manage elements of the planning application in conjunction with the Architectural Manager.

Architectural & Technical Requirements
- Assist the architectural function where required by workload.
- Provide architectural support to the site teams.
- Work closely with the Commercial team on tendering in terms of the architectural package.
- Keep updated on new planning and Building Regulations legislation and how this will impact on

- Be aware of the need for innovation in all aspects of our business.
- Expect and encourage continued change and improvement within the company

Product Development
- Work with the Central Product Development team to explore architectural products and research build systems to ensure we are ready for legislation and market change.
- Engage with the Central team on house type portfolio updates and feedback suggestions and improvements where deemed necessary.

- Create a team spirit with our partner consultants to ensure the Company receives total commitment.
- Develop a close working relationship with the Regional team, ensuring all information is communicated effectively and efficiently.
- Develop others working within the architectural section and provide support and coaching where required.

Successful applicants can expect a salary of between £30000-45000 plus extensive benefits including company car, bonus, contributory pension and more
