To help deliver this ambition the Estates team need to recruit Lead Designer. 

Your New Role 
Reporting to the Head of Projects, the Lead Designer will take the lead role in the design and project management of the University’s capital projects across a mixed-use Estate portfolio of research and teaching facilities, student residences, social and hospitality space, sports facilities and commercial space.

The role holder will be required to travel between university sites (Stafford, Lichfield and Shrewsbury) on occasions, however the position will predominantly be based at the Stoke campus.

Experience Required
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a construction/ property design discipline (e.g Architecture, Building Surveying, Engineering, A relevant professional qualification. (e.g. ARIBA, MCIOB, MCIBSE) You will have experience of successfully leading a design team of professional staff in a construction or property services organisation, with the ability to lead design projects from conception to completion and producing detailed design drawings for tender. You will also have extensive practical experience and relevant technical knowledge in delivering successful capital projects and programmes of work on time and to budget.

About You 
You will be able to prioritise complex and often conflicting project demands ensuring appropriate risk management techniques are implemented. You will also have the ability to communicate complex information to a range of audiences and stakeholders effectively using a variety of mediums and use industry standard design software i.e. Autocad , Revit etc. You will have excellent organisational skills with experience of managing multiple programmes of work with competing deadlines and challenging budgets. Finally, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels, both internally and externally.
