Head of Built Environment - York
Salary circa £60k
Macdonald & Company is working exclusively with this landed estate to source a new Head of Built Environment to join their Senior Management Team.
Although building work of the main house began in 1699, construction took over 100 years to complete, spanning the lifetime of three Earls. With several extensions and alterations after the initial construction, not to mention the Great Fire in 1940 which tore through the building, the fabric of the building has rarely been static. You would be charged with maintaining and caring for the centrepiece of this beautiful estate, as well as preserving and restoring a vast array of heritage buildings and historic monuments, enabling countless others to enjoy them for many years to come
The Position
*To be responsible for the fabric of the house and its built property, managing the maintenance and restoration of the heritage assets
*Responsible for leading significant heritage and listed building property development projects, both commercial and conservational, from inception through design and procurement to construction and completion.
* Play an effective role in the SMT working with colleagues to ensure strategic objectives are set, KPIs are set, monitored and achieved
* Help shape the long-term maintenance and restoration strategy for the estate. Liaising with the Chairman, CEO, Conservation Architect and appropriate external advisors regarding the ongoing restoration programme of listed buildings and monuments
* Management of the estate building services team ensuring both internal and external resources are utilised in the most efficient and cost effective way
The Individual
* Must be an MRICS Building Surveyor
*Demonstrate a track record of delivering projects from £1m - £20m in value
*Show an aptitude for and experience of the restoration, development and conservation of Grade I and Grade II listed buildings
*Needs to understand all aspects of the contracting process, and technical building requirements
