Technical Designer

A bespoke manufacture of joinery/carpentry solution for high-net worth individuals has a fantastic opportunity for someone with an Architectural & Technical expertise to join their very successful company.

With their HQ in Surrey hosting 15 people, with a further 30 staff that combine to create their installation teams and their factory, this company has gone from strength to strength since being founded over 35 years ago.

They are the best-known UK brand in home cellars and are the creators of a famous and innovative Cellar solution. In addition to this they also have a bespoke operation, offering completely tailor-made individual design solutions to their clients cellar needs as opposed to the standard product.

Opportunity

To capture a wider market, they now are designing a modular range of the 'bespoke' products which can be bought off the shelf and fitted by the customer's own contractor

This now has opened the doors of this successful manufacturer in looking for an Architectural Technical Designer to join their team to lead the development of their Modular product range.

Responsibilities

Design detailing of all components
Dealing with suppliers: identifying potential new suppliers and dealing with existing ones
Collating costings and building full cost build ups for each of the products
Providing designs for customer sign off
Dealing with customer queries and technical queries
Procurement once orders are received:
Placing orders for the modular products with suppliers
Organising logistics
Once the modular range is fully established, other development projects will be given to the role and the role will evolve as the business demands.

Experience

Architectural Technician / Designer with a background in joinery or bespoke shopfitting - 3+ years post-qualification experience
Experience required in the detail manufacture of:
Joinery / cabinetry
Metalwork/ engineering components
Sheet metal fabrication
Experience required in dealing with suppliers and project costing
Can manage workload, deadlines and timescales without supervision.
Able to produce production drawings for manufacture

Software

Competent in design using AutoCAD (2D) (Solidworks - Desirable)
Microsoft Excel for producing costing
Microsoft Project for project management

Personal

Good communicator - verbally and written
Positive Attitude towards work and Highly organised
Good self-starter / confident interpersonal
Good task management skills

Salary

Depending on the value an individual can bring to the company - the right calibre of individual will be able to earn a basic salary ranging anywhere from £35,000 to £45,000 (DOE).
