Your new company

You will be working for a well established M&E Contractor who have been operating in the UK for over 50 years. They have long term relationships with many customers, have operational excellence at the core and pride themselves on technical innovation and environmental decision making processes.

Your new role

You will be working as a M&E Design manager on large scale multi-million M&E projects and overseen the design management process to ensure the design outputs are met by consultancies and drawings and site information is produced accurately, meeting deadlines on large Design & Build projects.

Your responsibilities as the M&E Design Manager be to have an excellent understating of design and build contracting with sufficient technical knowledge to challenge design solutions that are produced by design Consultants.
Reporting into the Pre Construction Director, your responsibilities will include, reviewing tender documentation for completeness and identifying any design gaps. Production of an M&E strategy for each project including design and opportunities to unbundle the M&E procurement. Develop a relationship with key supply chain partners. Development of the M&E Consultant framework. Management of the building services design up to a defined point. Provide value engineering solutions. Reviewing sub-contract quotations for compliance. Completion of tender reports. Ensuring the building services design is produced in accordance with the contract requirements and statutory consents. Identification and management of design risks. Identification and management of design creep. Communications with internal team members, the design team, client stakeholders and the supply chain. Provide support on technical issues/problems. Management of utility services

You will need to demonstrate a broad knowledge of the industry and will have experience ideally in the some of the following sectors, including Healthcare, Industrial, Residential, Education, Commercial and public Sector projects such as MOD.


What you'll need to succeed
The type of person that will thrive in this role is someone who has come from a building services design background either from a M&E consultant or Contracting environment but who now very much has experience of coordinating large scale M&E design projects. Strong technical skills, but also design programme management skills and the ability to influence and deliver the design deliverables on time ensuring quality.
