Role overview: 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and aspirational Architectural Technologist, Designer and Job Runner with a high degree of technical competency and experience of contract administration to work on Eat Work Art's in-house projects.

Working with the Development Projects Manager on a number of projects from strategy-forming through to completion and occupation.

 

EWA is entering a phase of rapid growth and development. You will help to shape the evolution and reinvention of existing sites and the character of the built environment for future projects.

 

With about 15 projects on-the-go from minor re-ordering and refurbishment, through major conversion to new build, the work will be varied and rapidly changing; you will need to be flexible and agile and there are opportunities for the role to develop.

 

You will be part of a youthful and innovative team based in our open-plan offices in Hackney.

 

The role will involve inventive use of materials and forms of construction and procurement methods, such as off-site fabrication.

 

You will work single-handed, under the guidance of the Development Projects Manager and be expected to produce the technical documents required for Building Regulations, tender and construction and have experience of contract administration and liaison with consultants. You will be hands-on on all project types including minor alterations and refurbishment.

 

 

Areas of responsibility:

  • Arrange investigative surveys and carry out measured surveys

     

    Produce Archicad 2D and 3D CAD drawings of existing and proposed buildings and spaces (Revit users will be considered)

     

    Liaise effectively with the Development Projects Manager and other stakeholders to develop project strategies, design briefs and sketch proposals to brief and budget whilst applying knowledge of construction, statutory requirements and procurement methods

     

    Produce detailed Planning and Building Regulation submissions

     

    Produce detailed construction and tender documents including specifications

     

    Work with the Development Projects Manager to oversee projects on site in London and administer Contracts

     

    Work in the 3D CAD environment and produce models and visualisations for marketing and design enquiry purposes

     

    Liaise effectively with external consultants including Structural and M+E Engineers and QS

     

    Effectively input into multiple projects at different stages

     

    Maintain thorough project and building records and collaborate in setting up building information systems

     

    Embrace innovative ways of working and procurement and inventive uses of materials, construction methods and finishes.

     

 

Location:

 

You will be based in our London head office at Hackney Downs Studios but will work closely with the Development Projects Manager who is Devon-based and you will make regular visits to other London sites and the South West. Ideally you should be able to work away from home for short periods. There are opportunities for home working but a regular presence in the head office will be key.

 

 

Essential Skills and Experience

 

  • 5 years + experience in a similar role

     

    Able to demonstrate experience across RIBA Stages 0 - 7
