Job Details

Reporting to the Head of Asset Management you will deal with a variety of asset management and estates management tasks and projects associated with the department's work, working closely with other colleagues within both Asset & Space Management and other teams across Estates Services.


The Asset Management Surveyor will contribute to the provision and management of professional property services to the organisation and its Divisions and Departments in the delivery of property based management and solutions across the operational and commercial portfolios in support of the organisations strategic and operational objectives and the Estate Strategy.


Excellent working relationships are essential with stakeholders and senior decision makers, both within the University and external organisations in connection with meeting current and future operational and strategic objectives. The post holder will be expected to develop and maintain such working relationships.


Asset Management is part of Asset & Space Management in Estates Services and is responsible for inter alia the management and development of a wide range of property and land holdings within operational and investment property portfolios, which are primarily located within a 4 mile radius of Oxford, and include residential, commercial, educational and agricultural uses.


There is a focus on exploring opportunities to maximise the return from the property portfolio whilst supporting the objectives of its Strategic Plan and Estate Strategy, this includes both opportunities within the operational and investment estate.


The Asset Management Surveyor will deal with the day to day management of the commercial property portfolio which involves instructing and managing external consultants and working with administrative departments.


There will be a variety of professional work, including Landlord & Tenant and property management matters, and the role will take responsibility for the leasing in and renting out of space for commercial and leisure purposes, liaising with external property agents and legal advisors where necessary.


The position will include the usual pre-requisites, such as site visits, inspections, attending meetings and providing reports etc. Proficient use of general IT applications is expected and you will receive training in connection with the University's property database systems.
