This major events and entertainment venue in London's Docklands maintains a busy array of large and complex buildings across a varied campus. Known as a leader within their sector, they now plan to become a leader in sustainability by appointing a new sustainability manager. The campus consists of a large arena, hotels, residential buildings, retail, public spaces, and on-going new build construction projects. The organisation has an established and friendly team, an informal and collaborative culture, and operate in a fast-paced and ever changing environment.
Your new role
You will take a newly created position as sustainability manager, building on previous work of the sustainability committee who have created an excellent foundation of sustainability policies and actions. You will work across all areas of the organisation, collaborating with FM teams, utilities supply, operations, and events managers. You will provide sustainability knowledge and best practice, set targets, monitor compliance with certification and standards, create and implement strategies and policies. You will work with a complex array of stakeholders, including senior leadership, events managers, London council, estate tenants and neighbours, and events clients.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have worked as a sustainability expert and built up varied experience and knowledge on sustainability strategies, policies, and implementation. You might currently work for a large estate of buildings, in manufacturing, for a sustainability consultancy, or a construction contractor. Due to the varied and a unique nature of the organisation, a variety of backgrounds will be considered relevant. You will have strong experience of identifying areas of improvement and driving change, setting targets and KPIs. You will have excellent and well developed stakeholder management skills, able to communicate with and influence people with a variety of requirements and agendas, acting as an authoritative expert in sustainability. You will have passion for your subject and the drive to push the organisation towards a leading position within the events sector.
