An acclaimed London practice working on a number of major housing and regeneration schemes is looking for an Associate Director or aspiring Associate Director to join their leadership team. This team of around 50 strong offer a collaborative and well-structured working environment providing the perfect opportunity for someone with proven experience on UK based housing schemes.

As an AD you will lead on multiple projects, while taking on broader responsibilities including an overview of the technical and delivery aspects within the practice. The successful candidate will lead a team in the delivery of a range of residential and mixed-use projects from high-density inner-city sites to suburban brown and greenfield schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and overseeing delivery of projects within the studio
  • Preparing technical design and specification information for construction
  • Contributing to design and technical workshops for all projects
  • Maintaining design and technical standards
  • Managing and fostering strong, productive relationships with clients, consultants and contractor teams
  • Integrating sustainable design into all projects
  • Looking for opportunities to increase efficiencies and improve processes across the business

Skills and Experience 

  • Qualified architect or equivalent
  • Prior experience leading mid to large scale UK housing projects
  • Strong technical and delivery experience 
  • Excellent working knowledge of all RIBA work stages
  • Be proficient in three dimensional CAD software, ideally ArchiCAD, along with MS Office, InDesign and Photoshop
  • Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Be an excellent collaborator
  • Be self-motivated and self-directed
  • Be a strong people manager and role model
  • Have a keen interest in high levels of design and detail
