Town Planner (Development Management) | Flexible working hours | Central Scotland | Long Term Contract

Your new company
A busy local authority have an immediate opportunity available for an experienced Town Planner within their Development Management team. This position will be an ongoing temporary contract, with the option to work remotely from home. On occasion you may be required to attend meetings in the office, or visit sites within the local authority area, so it is preferable for applicants to live within a commutable distance from central Scotland.

The option of working full-time or part-time hours is available, and can be flexible to work around existing commitments.

Your new role
Working as part of a small development team and reporting to the Principal Planner, you will be tasked with processing a high volume of planning applications, particularly householder applications, and providing planning advice on planning issues with any given development. You will be responsible for ensuring applications received are assessed under relevant local and national planning legislation in accordance with statutory obligations, policies and good practice. You will be required to develop effective working relationships with development partners, consultants and the internal teams involved in successful project delivery and will have a keen understanding of the development process as a whole.


What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for the role, you will need an RTPI accredited (or equivalent) undergraduate or postgraduate qualification, and be eligible for full RTPI membership. Ideally you will have 2 or more years' post qualification relevant experience of Town Planning, Development Management or related work in complex urban environments, and a detailed understanding of Scottish planning system.


What you'll get in return
You will be offered a long-term contract opportunity (approx 6 months) within a vibrant local authority's Development Management team. The hourly rate for this post is negotiable, dependent upon your experience and preferred payment type, but will be in the region of £22-28 per hour.
