The Royal Parks is the charity responsible for over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland landscapes, gardens, woodlands, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are: Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.

They also manage other important public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens. The eight Royal Parks and other public spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.

As part of a growing Landscape Studio you will support the design of resilient and sustainable parks for the 21st Century, contribute to their post pandemic renewal and learn about their unparalleled landscape history.

You will support the work of our Landscape Architects working across all the parks on a diverse range of projects from concept to delivery including the design of extensive new areas of urban parkland, habitat creation from rare acid grassland to woodlands and wetlands, public spaces for events, activities, and visitor facilities, as well as landscape restoration and renewal.

You will support our work on master planning and our innovative management plans providing technical support to park management and specialist teams. You will work with in house experts and specialist consultants.

***Please note this is a 2 year fixed term contract

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with The Royal Parks (TRP) Landscape Studio to support the design of all landscape projects
  • Provide CAD support for the development of landscape design proposals from conceptual design through to detailed tender packages for delivery of projects on site
  • Be responsible for CAD drawing, digital representation, visualisations etc using a range of software packages
  • Be responsible for the organisation, naming and management of CAD files and other software and support other team members in their use as required to work towards BIM compliance
  • Prepare illustrative material for stakeholder engagement, dissemination of ideas and design concepts and funding opportunities
  • Prepare data, design and survey information as directed for documentation and presentation materials
  • Support all Landscape Studio team members in the use of CAD and other software GIS development
  • Work closely with team members to explore options and test software to develop the Landscape Studio’s GIS capacity
  • Review the use of GIS software across other departments
  • Work with workstream leads to scope and develop an approach to the use of GIS across the organisation
  • Work closely with our IT team to scope software options, requirements and costs for GIS

Skills and Experience

  • City and Guilds Level 2/3 Qualification in AutoCAD or relevant working experience
  • Extensive experience leading on CAD management
  • Experience of drawing technical landscape / architectural details for RIBA Stages 3/4/5
  • Strong technical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
