Your new company

We're the largest housing association in the North East and among the biggest 25 nationally. Today we own and manage 34,000 properties in the North East and Yorkshire region. Our company is still an organisation that's local at its heart - and although our work is largely in the Tees Valley, we welcome applications from further afield because our ways of working mean we can often be flexible about where our colleagues are based. Our skilled colleagues and board directors work tirelessly to support 70,000 tenants and customers, bringing a breadth of experience and a can-do attitude to ensure a high-quality customer experience. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds to join our committed team.

Your new role

An exciting opportunity to join our environmental sustainability team. As the energy manager, you will be a key member of the team leading on the delivery of our commitment to take control of our environmental impacts and meet our net zero targets. You will lead on the continuous improvement and development of our approach to energy management. Continuing to embed good customer experience, whilst delivering value for money and supporting our journey to net zero.

What you'll need to succeed

You'll be someone with real drive and passion for playing your part in tackling climate change. We're looking for someone who can demonstrate action you have taken to make a difference and an understanding of what you could do in this role to support us to reduce environmental impacts and reach our net zero targets. You'll understand why it's important for us to work with colleagues, customers and partners to reduce energy use and the associated carbon emissions.
You will be a great communicator, skilled in influencing and negotiation, able to build beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will have experience of collaborating with teams across our organisation to provide a service which provides a great customer experience.
You'll have knowledge of business energy management and the utility network system, as well as the ability to demonstrate a knowledge of existing energy emissions and carbon reporting legislation and how this impacts on our net zero journey.

What you'll get in return

Offering a competitive salary and hybrid working as well as benefits including:

  • Pension scheme
  • Flexible working hours where appropriate
  • 28 days annual leave for full-time colleagues (increasing to 31 days with service) plus bank holidays.
  • Health cash plan
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Exclusive discounts on bus and train travel
  • Free parking
