Operational Support Grade (OSG) opportunities available at HMP Grendon Springhill.


As a supplier to the HM Prison Service Hays are seeking to recruit Operational Support Grades (OSGs) into the team. Expected to last over 6 months. They are temporary positions but with the number of projects in the pipeline the positions will continue.

We have an exciting opportunity available as an OSG escort working within the Prison Service. As part of the operational security team, your duties will include assisting/ escorting the contractors as they carry out maintenance and ongoing project developments at the prison, searching visitors and contractors, tool checks etc. This role is a full time, ongoing temporary position, Monday to Friday with the opportunity to work overtime, from time to time. As part of the security team, you will be responsible for assisting in the safety and security of the establishment where your duties will include: - Escorting contractors & vehicles:

• Checking & searching visitors
• Radio handling
• Supervision of visitors
• Patrolling perimeter and grounds
• Contractor tool checks
• Searching buildings
• Health & Safety procedures.

Rates of pay:
You'll earn £14.31 per hour (inclusive of holiday). There is also Weekday Overtime available at a rate of £21.59 per hour & Weekend Overtime paid at £26.60 per hour inclusive of holiday. Monday to Friday- 8:00am -4.30pm however you will be expected if required to work weekends/evenings and nights.


What you'll need to succeed You will need no formal qualifications. However, you will need to be security conscious, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. You will also have good ability to work as a team to achieve goals. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer and are subject to full prison clearance.
