Your new role

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Payroll Manager to join our finance team in Luton. You will be responsible for managing a team of four payroll specialists, ensuring accurate and timely processing of daily and weekly payrolls for our employees and contractors across the UK.
As a Payroll Manager, you will also ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, liaise with external agencies and auditors, maintain payroll records and reports, and resolve any payroll-related issues or queries.
Payroll Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise a team of four payroll specialists, providing guidance, training, and feedback
  • Oversee the processing of daily and weekly payrolls for employees and contractors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Review and approve payroll transactions, such as salaries, bonuses, deductions, taxes, and payments
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, such as HMRC, PAYE, NI, RTI, CIS, etc.
  • Coordinate with HR and accounting teams to ensure payroll data is updated and reconciled
  • Liaise with external agencies and auditors, such as pension providers, tax authorities, etc.
  • Maintain payroll records and reports, such as payslips, P45s, P60s, etc.
  • Resolve any payroll-related issues or queries from employees or management
  • Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to improve efficiency and quality


What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you should have good experience in payroll finance, or a related field, and payroll management. You should also have at least five years of experience in payroll administration, preferably in a managerial role. You should have excellent knowledge of payroll software, such as Sage or Xero, as well as Microsoft Excel and Word. You should also have strong communication, leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
