Your new company
A main contractor operating as an SME with a turnover of £12m in the past year. They do a mixture of commercial projects from new builds, refurbs, fitouts, and extensions. They are a family run business which prides themselves on quality and dedication. They do a range of projects up to £7m and have a steady plan to grow. They are looking to onboard an Estimator / QS who can help grow the business and grow within the company into a more senior position.
Your new role
As an Estimator / QS, you will be regularly reporting to the commercial team and be responsible for estimating the new projects that come into the business. You will be liaising with clients to ensure that the correct elements of the projects are priced against the design. You will be involved with confirming the price of materials, equipment and labour costs and, as such, obtaining / negotiating quotes from subcontractors and suppliers. A key part of the role is preparing and submitting quotations for work, as well as standard QS duties.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have estimating and/or QS experience ideally in the commercial sector, so you can come into the role and hit the ground running. You will be able to work well on your own initiative as well as in a team and be able to regularly report accurate estimations to the directors. You will be motivated and commercially aware and able to make judgements relating to cost and budget information. You will be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal. You must also be a team player and ideally want to grow within the company.
