Project Manager - Highways

PROJECT MANAGER - HIGHWAYS - UP TO £400 PER DAY - 6 MONTH, ONGOING CONTRACT - LONDON

Your new company
A major projects team working in the heart of East London are delivering a multi-million pound highways project. They are highly recognise Tier 1 Contractor that work on some of the biggest civil engineering projects in the UK.

Your new role
This is a joint venture between several key organisations, in which these projects will help improve the infrastructure within the local area. You will work alongside the SPM managing the delivery of a highly valued major project on the East London highway. This will involve working with both internal team members and external organisations, as well as managing elements of the projects at the various stages of their delivery. Below are some of the responsibilities which your new Project Manager (Highways) role will entail:

* Reporting to the Senior Project Manager and Senior Site Engineer, you will help the smooth delivery of packages, designs and projects on site.
* Working alongside existing organisations, seeking approval process throughout the project
* Attend stakeholder meetings, preparing information for them and act as a point of contact
* Organise own workload together with the supervision of other project members to achieve targets set in conjunction with management of the project
* Manage budgets, ranging from £1 Million - £5 Million
* Deputise, on occasion and as required, for the SPM and SSE.
Flexible working will be required, as you may need to work weekends, evenings and over the holiday period to manage the successful delivery of this project.

What you'll need to succeed
* Possess a background Highways design and highway project management experience and the ability to use appropriate computer packages, such as AutoCAD and MS Office Suit.
* Proven project management skills
* Proven team management skills
* Strong analytical and numeracy skills
* Articulate both in written and oral form
* Ability to manage budget lines, and skills to minimise budget under/overspends
* Demonstrable project/contract management skills
* Ability to assess the impact of legislative or administrative change affecting the service and the ability to lead, manage and develop a team and the individuals within it
* Ability to listen and respond sensitively to the needs of the community and to structure the service around the needs of customers
* Ability to build effective and productive working relationships with colleagues
* Knowledge of the requirements of relevant Health and Safety legislation.
* Knowledge of contracts currently used by industry, data collection methods, scheme design and information technology
* A confident, clear and effective communicator with the ability to adjust their communication both orally and in writing to a variety of people, including children
* Comprehensive knowledge of the service area and an ability to assess the impact of legislative and / or administrative changes affecting the service.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation relevant to the service area
