Joining Oxford City Council's affordable housing supply and enabling team is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a city steeped in history and innovation. You'll be at the forefront of one of the council's four key priorities - delivering more affordable housing. This ambition recognises the programme of work required in order to address Oxford's housing crisis, where existing homes are unaffordable for many - the challenge is significant and as such the council is seeking somebody that is able to support the delivery of the programme through engaging with key stakeholders.
HAYS are delighted to be working in partnership with the council to present an exciting new permanent opportunity for a Housing Development Officer.
Your new role
As a Housing Development Officer, you will lead the development and delivery of the affordable housing programme, including supported and specialist housing, and contribute to direct delivery, estate regeneration and enabling initiatives by developing and engaging with internal and external providers, partners, and other key stakeholders.
You will:
- Lead the enabling and commissioning of affordable housing schemes.
- Identify new development opportunities and develop innovative approaches to funding the development through liaison with central government, Homes England and other councils.
- Develop and maintain strong internal and external partnerships to ensure that delivery of affordable housing in the city and neighbouring districts, accords with the councils housing and planning policies.
- Lead on work streams to help facilitate the delivery of more affordable housing - from strategic sites to small back land opportunities
What you'll need to succeed
If you are a passionate and energetic professional, then this could be a fantastic new opportunity for you.. are you ready to make a difference within a team who have a vision and passion to do exactly that? - You will need to have degree-level education or relevant experience, ideally working in a local authority or registered provider within a housing or development. In addition, you will need to possess excellent engaging and influencing skills, as well as the ability to understand national issues facing local government and some of the challenges for development.
