Job roleThe role sits on the EMEA Regional Category Management team focused on Europe, Middle-East Africa and Eurasia, reporting to the Director of Category Management EMEA, engaging with the Global Category Management Team(s) for the categories under its responsibility and coordinating with the countries' Procurement Managers as well as the Business. It is sitting within AstraZeneca's category procurement network and will be ensuring strong and collaborative relationships are built and maintained to define the category strategies and lead the category plans' execution. This role will be focused on a set of commercial / indirect spend categories.
Typical accountabilities
- Oversees implementation of category plans to ensure that the underpinning process improvement and procurement activities deliver the expected business value.
- Collaborates closely with the Global Category Managers, Sub-regional Category Managers (for Middle East Africa and Eurasia), Country Procurement Managers as well as partners to deliver category strategy implementation.
- Engages proactively with Director Category Management EMEA in the development of long-term strategic plans for agreed scope of spend area, including the delivery of savings objectives as well as broader value objectives.
- Collaborates with the Global Category Managers and Director Category Management EMEA in strategic relationship management (customer and supplier) - to ensure that Category Strategies are highly aligned to current and future business needs and that the supply base can support these strategies.
- Works alongside AstraZeneca's GPS organisation in Warsaw (Global Procurement Services) advising on and driving procurement strategies to make decisions necessary to purchase products and services in congruence with organisational objectives.
- Coordinates the introduction of new and modified services with appropriate departments.
- Analyses and resolves issues raised in procurement audit reports.
- Advises on contracts and agreements for the supply of complex services with new and existing suppliers.
- Develops, evaluates or manages internal and external relationships with suppliers and other cross-functional teams.
Essential experience
- Degree level or equivalent qualifications
- Significant experience in similar environment at a management level
- Project management, change management and people management skills.
- Technical expertise in at least one procurement area, and competence in several others
- Communication skills and ability to influence others
- Teamwork focused and relationship builder: Works well with others, across departments, levels and intercultural awareness.
- Comfort with risk and ambiguous situations
- Proficiency in Procurement and other business-related systems, e.g. ERP, Ariba, Jaggaer, Coupa
Desirable
- Extensive experience in project management
- Experience in either a market-procurement role or a global or regional category management procurement role
- Experience of working in a complex matrix organisation
- Experience in the categories in scope (indirect / commercial categories)
