Senior Technical Architect

Job Title: Senior Technical Architect
Length: 12 months with extensions for up to 24 months
IR35: Outside
Location: Edinburgh
Work Pattern: Hybrid (1/2 days a week on site initially until bedded in)
Rate: £600/day Outside IR35


The successful candidate will have significant experience working with Azure cloud and the integration of 3rd party applications with Azure cloud to a Technical or Solutions Architect level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivery of innovative enterprise-level solution designs which solve business problems to agreed timescales and budgets.
• Reviewing business context for solutions, defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options, (which may include RFIs, RFPs or prototype development), selecting the optimal option, and developing a roadmap for the selected solution.
• Capturing all architecturally significant functional and non-functional requirements for the solution and translating this into an end-2-end design, with a delivery roadmap, and assisting with detailed planning for delivery.
• Communicating the architecture to stakeholders and collaborating and coordinating with domain architects to ensure alignment with IT policies, standards and roadmaps.
• Managing activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation.

Essential Criteria:

• Proven track record of designing and supporting the delivery of cost-effective, innovative, scalable and maintainable multi-site enterprise solutions.
• Proven ability to interpret business principles and strategies and translation of these into effective solution architectures and programmes of work.
• Rounded architecture experience across all aspects of enterprise programmes (programme design & management, transformation, IT strategy, infrastructure and networking, applications, security, BI, content management, enterprise database & middleware service provision, programme and technology governance etc) and how they fit together.
• Thorough understanding of the role of architecture governance and the principles, policies and standards required for the delivery of solutions.
• Practical experience of enterprise application integration and enterprise use of Azure cloud services Solid commercial and technical experience providing IT Services in organisations with tens of sites and thousands of users.
• Good organisational, communication, presentational and interpersonal skills with the capability to communicate concisely and effectively.
