Due to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are looking to recruit 2 officers to join the Community Safety Intervention team. Your new role
As a Community Safety Intervention Officer, you will be providing a customer-focused and consistent service on behalf of the Community Safety Team, while undertaking the full range of community safety duties such as street patrols, visits, attending partnership meetings and establishing a relationship with communities and partners.Birmingham City Council uses approaches like prevention, early intervention and enforcement to comply with relevant legislation - knowledge regarding the Crime & Disorder Act, ASB Act, regulatory codes, guidance and professional practice is desired.You will be undertaking investigations, building evidence packs, complete reports and, when necessary, attend court - you will use problem-solving techniques to identify the victim, offender and location to prevent and enforce low-level anti-social behaviour.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the ASB Act 2014 and Crime & Disorder Act 1998, Modern Slavery Act 2015, legislation and market context, experience with case management, planning and the ability to work independently with a proactive, problem-solving approach.It is also important to have experience of working in a partnership setting and managing cross-organisation's priorities, both internally and externally, to deliver solutions to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and increase community confidence.
In addition, this role will be an ASAP start, which before starting you will need to pass your reference and compliance checks. On registration please have your 2 most recent employment details available for reference checks.
What you'll get in return
This is a full-time, temporary role based in Birmingham. The contract is set until January 2025 but may be open to extension. This role is a Grade 4 position, with a rate of £16.85 per hour (PAYE).Due to the council going through a period of transition, permanent opportunities may be available.
